What we do

Restoration-grade
surface finishing,
metal done right.

We're a specialist shop focused on surface integrity, finish consistency and the mechanical understanding to back it up — for builders, restoration shops and collectors who demand OEM-level results.

Services

What we finish.

Engine cases & full engines

Disassembled aluminum components only — cases, jugs and covers brought back to factory-correct.

Carburetors & intake

Carb bodies and intake components cleaned of fuel residue and oxidation without harming jets or surfaces.

Covers, housings & brackets

Side covers, points covers and mechanical brackets returned to an even satin finish.

Precision cleaning

Prep for rebuilt or aging aluminum assemblies — clean surfaces without altering critical tolerances.

Specialty focus

Vintage & restoration-grade work.

Our core work centers on restoration-quality vapor blasting where surface preservation matters as much as cleanliness. Every piece is treated so casting texture is maintained while oxidation, staining and contamination are fully removed.

  • Motorcycle and automotive engine cases
  • Heavily oxidized aluminum
  • Concours-level restorations
  • OEM-correct surface finishes

The process

How a part moves
through the shop.

01

Assess & mask

Inspect condition; protect threads, bores and critical mating surfaces before blasting.

02

Vapor blast

Media suspended in water lifts oxidation and contamination while preserving cast texture.

03

Rinse & passivate

Full rinse and surface treatment to stabilize the metal surface and prevent flash oxidation.

04

Inspect & return

Final finish check, then packaged for pickup or protected return shipping.

Drop-off, shipping & handling

Local bench or
mailed in — same care.

Most local work is handled by drop-off in Red Hook, with growing demand for remote service via shipping and courier. We provide packaging guidance and shipping instructions for every remote customer.

Why vapor blasting

Vapor blasting
vs. sandblasting.

Dry abrasive blasting throws hard media at a part with nothing to soften the hit. It cuts fast, but it scours the surface, rounds edges and can leave aluminum pitted and embedded with grit. Vapor blasting suspends a fine media in water — the slurry does the cleaning while the water cushions every impact. It lifts oxidation, staining and decades of grime without fighting the metal, so the original casting texture is left intact.

Dry / sand blasting

  • Aggressive, abrasive cut
  • Can pit and round surfaces
  • Media embeds in soft alloys
  • Harsh, uneven matte finish

Vapor blasting

  • Water-cushioned, gentle
  • Preserves casting texture
  • No grit left behind
  • Even, factory-correct satin finish

Common questions

Questions, answered.

Will vapor blasting damage my parts or change tolerances?

No. The media is suspended in water, so every impact is cushioned — it lifts oxidation and grime without cutting into the metal. We mask threads, bores and critical mating surfaces, preserve the original casting texture, and clean carburetors without harming jets or sealing surfaces.

What materials and parts can you vapor blast?

Our core work is aluminum — engine cases, carburetors, intake, covers, housings, brackets and hubs, ideally disassembled. We also handle steel, stainless, cast iron and magnesium. If you're unsure whether a part is a good fit, send a photo with your estimate request.

Do I need an appointment, or can I just drop off?

We work by appointment for drop-off and pickup in Red Hook, Brooklyn. Reach out first through the estimate form or by phone so we can schedule you in.
